This has been my final week at Hessilhead. I'll be flying home this Tuesday, after the ten greatest weeks ever. I have learnt so incredibly much, it is unimaginable. And even though this week has been truly uneventful, I am going to miss this place so much. I will miss the work, the people, the thrill when a bird escapes in the hospital and we have to catch it again..
My fondest memory is definitely what happened last week with me and wee McDonald. Since he's February's cub, he'll be going through what I call puberty now. He's halfway to becoming a fully grown fox, and it's showing. When I stooped to clean his water bath, he actually jumped on my back and tried to eat my hair. I lifted him from my neck and started to cuddle. He was lying on his back in my arms, eyes closed and a grin on his face. It was just too adorable for words..
Furthermore two buzzards came in this week. They are in the hospital at the moment, and are being very grumpy (as well they should). Our badger is doing good as well, which is nice. Fergus, Bad Waggy, Dora, Fred and George (all of the other tame foxes) are doing fine as well, I'll miss them so much..
I'm looking forward to go home and start my TP again. I have some great ideas for lessons and I'd love to try them out. I do have to watch out though, for I have developed a teensy bit of a Scottish accent now (teensy being an understatement). Seeing as I've been dubbed "potential Scotswoman" a few weeks back I think I'll be able to teach my students some lovely things about this place.
And for the school stuff:
Word list:
Cervical air sac
Pneumatic humerus air sac
Anterior thoracic air sac
Interclavicular air sac
Posterior thoracic air sac
(we had a wee talk about bird anatomy, hence the different air sacs)
I am almost done with everything in my portfolio that needs to be done while staying abroad. I'm going to get started with the IIA's when I get home, I have collected some lovely materials. Everything's looking peachy so far.
I had no more special opportunities this week, since it has been extremely quiet. I just worked on my portfolio a lot.
Cheerio!
